Consulting
I help research groups, planning offices, mobility companies, and infrastructure stakeholders apply pedestrian dynamics simulation in a scientifically sound, reproducible, and practical way.
Services include simulation audits, JuPedSim consulting, training workshops, technical prototyping, and expert review of pedestrian and evacuation simulation workflows.
One person to talk to, with a network of specialists I bring in when a project needs more. I handle the core myself.
Services
- Pedestrian Simulation Audit
- Independent expert review of simulation scenarios, assumptions, model choice, input data, calibration, reproducibility, and interpretation of results.
- JuPedSim Consulting
- Support for JuPedSim-based workflows, Python scripting, scenario setup, analysis, visualization, and integration.
- Training & Workshops
- Hands-on workshops for JuPedSim, pedestrian dynamics, evacuation simulation, and reproducible simulation workflows.
- Simulation Tool Prototyping
- Development of web-based research prototypes, interactive simulation tools, and analysis dashboards.
Process
- Discovery call — a short conversation to understand the question, the constraints, and what a useful outcome looks like.
- Scoping — a written proposal with deliverables, assumptions, data needs, timeline, and a fixed price.
- Engagement — audit, workshop, or prototype sprint, with checkpoints along the way.
- Handover — documented results, reproducible workflows, and a debrief on what the simulation does and does not support.
Demos
Short walkthroughs of the JuPedSim App — a free, browser-based interface I maintain for pedestrian crowd simulation. It runs the full JuPedSim pipeline in a browser tab with no installation: sketch or import geometry (DXF from CAD, IFC from BIM), define agents and exits, run the simulation, and export results for analysis in Python.
For consulting engagements, the App is a fast way to prototype scenarios, validate assumptions, and share reproducible setups with clients — without anyone having to install a toolchain.
Who I work with
- Research institutes and universities
- Planning and engineering offices
- Mobility and infrastructure companies
- Event and venue operators
- Software teams working on simulation tools
Example engagements
- Review an existing pedestrian simulation study
- Build a reproducible JuPedSim workflow
- Train a research or engineering team
- Prototype an interactive simulation interface
- Advise on model choice and interpretation of results
